A Glimpse Into my Path
Here’s a little background on how I came to walk this path and offer the work I do today. Each chapter of my journey—through yoga, temple dance, Chinese medicine, and feminine healing—has shaped the way I support others in their own healing and awakening.
healing foods and wholistic health: A personal journey
Growing up my family was plagued with persistent health challenges from a host of allergies to debilitating headaches, chronic neck and low back pain, and for myself it was excruciating and recurring ear aches. The remedies in our cabinets: advil and antibiotics. Long before I knew about the hidden harms of pharmaceutical medications and long before I became aware that the Western allopathic medical system was severely compromised by the profit driven interests of ‘Big Pharma,’ I knew there had to be a better way. Without any previous exposure, I just had this inkling inside that Nature held the answers. It wasn't until my grandfather's 7 year battle with cancer and witnessing the suffering this caused for him and those caring for him, especially my mother, did I really yearn for a more compassionate, natural and effective approach to healing.
When I was 19 years old, upon returning from a semester abroad in Costa Rica, a series of synchronicities occurred that spiraled me onto the path of wholistic health that I continue to walk today. Back then, and even in some spheres today, it was called 'alternative' medicine, however, the word 'alternative' does not accurate convey the true nature of the approach to health, healing, and wholeness that many of the worlds' traditional medical systems once and perhaps still do embrace.
As I completed my undergraduate education, I was introduced to the way of Macrobiotics, a simple diet and way of life that focuses of the power of whole foods to prevent and treat chronic and degenerative conditions, those that often have no recourse in Western medicine. This led me in 1999 to enroll in the National College of Naturopathic Medicine, now known as the National University of Natural Medicine, in Portland, Oregon. Drawn to the college’s principles, I engaged in a rigorous course of study in naturopathic and Chinese medical philosophy, herbal medicine, acupuncture, Qi Gong as well as massage therapy and more. After a life-changing 5 years, I graduated with a Master’s of Science in Oriental Medicine (MSOM) from the perspective of Classical Chinese Medicine under the direction of Dr. Heiner Fruehauf. Since becoming a licensed acupuncturist in 2005, I have remained steadfast in my commitment to offering support and solutions to healing that go beyond the limitations and potential harms of pharmaceutical-based medicine.
What I have discovered through my own journey of navigating a chronic health condition in addition to my studies is the necessity of taking responsibility for one’s own health and becoming an empowered and engaged participant in one’s own healing. Though hard years of trial-and-error, exploration, and many a cleansing regimen, I realized that true wellness is deeply personal. I believe that there is no one-size-fits-all solution or magic remedy for everyone and place great importance on listening to our body’s own wisdom to create a unique, balanced and nourishing path to vitality. With deep gratitude for the healing power of nature, trust in our innate capacity for healing, incredible support and spiritual awakening through sacred plant medicine ceremony, and recognition that food is indeed the first medicine, I have found my way to embodied health by embracing a non-toxic lifestyle rooted in clean, whole foods blending traditional wisdom with the body’s inner knowing. It is my great joy and honor to support others in doing the same.

“The word health is derived from the Old English haelp, meaning ‘whole,’ and is also related to the Old Norse helge, meaning ‘holy’ or ‘sacred.’ These root words convey the essence of health as wholeness at all levels of being, which occurs through reconnection with our sacred or spiritual essence. From this perspective, health and healing are a reflection of our journey towards wholeness and spiritual awakening.”

From Self-Doubt to Sacred Devotion: A Feminine Path of Yoga & Dance
My journey into the interconnected realms of Yoga, Tantra, and the Sacred Feminine began in 1998 when I discovered the book, ”Yoga: The Iyengar Way." Amidst the challenges of life after college, yoga emerged as a beacon of solace and self-discovery. Initially, yoga served as a tool to overcome my body image insecurities and shyness, but my fascination soon deepened as I delved into its vast philosophical and mystical dimensions. Over the years, I became immersed in yoga research, captivated by the spiritual liberation and awakening pursued by male yogis and saints. However, I continued to struggled with teachings that portrayed women as distractions from spiritual enlightenment or worse. This amplified a sense shame regarding my female body and caused confusion around my natural desires for intimacy as well appreciation of art and beauty and things of the material world. Ultimately, my practice of yoga, dance, bhakti and tantra helped me find a deep sense of self acceptance, love and appreciate my physical form, and find refuge within my own skin.
It was through Bhakti yoga, the yoga of love and devotion, and ecstatic celebrations of chanting and dancing that eventually led me to embark on a transformative six-month solo journey to Mother India. Simply walking on the sacred ground in the land of Bharat, visiting temples, paying homage to one of my first yoga inspirations Swami Sivananda in the yoga mecca of Rishikesh, immersing in the Holy Ganges River, and receiving darshan of the Divine Mother catalyzed a profound shift within me. It began carving a deep path of awakening and remembrance of the Divine Feminine within. By Grace I was then led to meet my first teacher of traditional shakta tantra which would radically alter the orientation of my spiritual path. It was through specific womb-honoring practices in this authentic lineage of classical Goddess-centered tantra that I received the healing and integration that I long sought and firmly rooted me on the path of the yogini. Walking the way of the yogini and following the red thread of herstory has brought me most recently to the beloved Magdalene Rose Priestess Path, a both humble and exalted way of embodied love and inner gnosis.
Since my initial Sivananda Yoga and Vedanta teacher training in 2002, my love of asana as embodiment and movement as medicine led to me to explore various styles and approaches to the practices of yoga and sacred dance. After years of dedication to Anusara, Ashtanga Vinyasa and Shadow Yoga I now allow the practice to guide me from within in an intuitive flow of physical postures and exercises in combination with seated meditation. Drawn to the strong and rhythmical footwork, precise expression of mudras, subtle body activation, and feminine grace, I moved to the Bay Area of California to deepen my studies of Odissi Classical Indian Dance and perform with Shakti Bhakti Ensemble. I also had the good fortune to meet Prema Dasara who introduced me to the dharmic path of tantric Buddhism through Tara Dance bringing great clarity, creativity and confidence into my life. I’ve danced in several offerings of the Mandala Dance of the 21 Praises of Tara as well as completed a 4 year dance prayer initiation in the Ollintlahuimetztli Moondance of Teotihuacan, Mexico. Currently my devotion to sacred dance finds expression through the freedom and wild joy of 5 Rhythms, and has brought me to the profound practice of diety yoga through Charya Nritya Sacred Buddhist Dance from Nepal. Finally, in July of 2024 I completed a 300-hour Yoga Teacher Training with Divinitree and Andean Yoga in the Sacred Valley of Peru, bringing my decades-long path full circle on the full moon of Guru Purnina and feast day of Mary Magdalene on the sacred mountain of Apu Ausangate. May it be for the benefit of all beings.

“Ultimately this is what all of the yoga practices do; they open up the core of our body and our heart, the roots of the navel, and the inner workings of our mind, to that which is hidden deep down inside, the true inner soma, which gives insight into the true nature of being.”
